CLOUD DEVELOPER - SIMPLY BIOTECH

Immediate opening for a Cloud Developer in South San Francisco, CA who possesses:

• 2-3 years of life science industry experience relevant to full-stack development
• 2-3 years of experience with DevOps, using Docker/Containers, within the life science industry
• AWS cloud server experience
• Proficient in Python (4+ years of experience is preferred)
• Experience with AWS Batch or Kubernetes strongly preferred
• Experience with pipeline management tools (SnakeMake, NextFlow)
• Experience with machine learning workflow tools (Airflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker) a plus

FULL DESCRIPTION:

The selected candidate will further possess:

• Master's degree or equivalent in relevant field (engineering-focused)
• Have built, orchestrated, and maintained data infrastructures and scalable pipelines for large datasets (millions of data points)
• Self-motivated and a proactive thinker - can work independently and in teams
• Excellent written and communication skills presenting scientific data

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Develop, deploy, and maintain data infrastructures capable of processing data related to next-generation sequencing (exome, RNA, targeted libraries) and storing in relational databases for ease of use by data scientists and computational biologists
• Develop, deploy, and maintain a user interface made available to computationalists and experimentalists to analyze and visualize data
• Work with computationalists to improve the time efficiency and multithreading of algorithms to be run in high-performance computing environments
• Automate computational pipelines using AWS Nextflow
• Manage consultants to aid in bioinformatics software development
• Interfacing with a team of computational and experimental biologists to aid in data infrastructure, pipeline automation, and data usability
• Collaborating with multiple internal groups on cross-functional projects
• Creating presentations and providing written and verbal updates on scientific findings
