    Job Description
    General Responsibilities:
    The Pittsburgh office is hiring a Group Manager (GM) for our Asbestos/Industrial Hygiene (IH) team. The manager will supervise or monitor projects in progress for the team to ensure that work is executed on time and in budget based on the approved scope of work and within company policies, procedures and standards. Typical projects range from $5,000 to $350,000. The GM will also supervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of staff, and pricing to achieve desired profitability. Other responsibilities include assisting the environmental department manager with the daily operations of the Asbestos/IH team related to staff training, development, and performance review, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, quality of services, and adherence to policies and procedure. Group size typically ranges from 4 to 10 staff.

    Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for preparation of proposals and cost estimates and leading or conducting project monitoring, asbestos/lead surveys, IAQ/mold assessments, and other IH related project assignments as appropriate.
    • Assist with or lead business and client development activities.
    • Assist with developing employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection, and on-boarding.
    • Assist with preparation and execution of annual growth plan.
    • Assist with oversight and management of key metrics related to revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
    • Be aware of project-related risk and implement company risk policies.
    • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Engage APRs on projects at their onset.
    • Make employee safety a priority, in accordance with corporate safety policies.
    • Prepare Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses and pre-task plans.
    • Lead project kick-off meetings.


    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Physical ability to carry equipment up to 35 pounds, climb ladders, get in and out of basement and attic crawl spaces, etc.
    • Oversee operation and maintenance of instruments including testing instruments, sampling pumps, calibrators, microscopes, etc.
    • Periodic out-of-area travel for projects including some extended stays.
    • Ability to work at State and Governmental facilities.
    • Ability to work at Schools and other educational facilities.
    • Ability to wear a respirator.


    Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

    • Ability to study and pass various certification programs.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize work.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of Technical Reports.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel for fieldwork.
    • Ability to pass a background check for Federal and School Facilities.


    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and 5 years’ practice experience. Or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience directly managing staff and leading asbestos/IH teams.
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.


    Preferred Certifications:

    • Asbestos Building Inspector
      • Required – PA
      • Preferred - WV, OH, and/or NY
    • Asbestos Management Planner – PA
    • Asbestos Project Designer – PA
    • NIOSH 582 PCM analysis certified
    • Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor – PA
    • WV Air Monitor
    • HAZWOPER 40 Hour certified
    • Certification as AHERA Building Inspector
