    Upward Bound is a federal grant program designed to increase the number of low-income and first-generation students who are prepared to graduate from high school and enter and persist in post-secondary education. Upward Bound provides five-year grants partnerships to provide services at high poverty, underserved high schools. Upward Bound grantees serve an entire cohort of students beginning in the ninth grade and follow the cohort through their first year of college.

    **Job Responsibilities: **

    • Assist the Project Director with the implementation of goals and objectives

    • Responsible for part-time staff supervision & coaching

    • Provide oversight of UB teaching staff at partner school

    • Aid with student/parent recruitment and outreach

    • Schedule & facilitate project support services and activities at the partner school

    • Coordinate program support with partners and SJU departments

    • Monitor student attendance & provide direct support (i.e.- SEIJ academic/ college & career planning)

    • Update project participants' files and the collection of project services data (i.e.- attendance, event sign-in sheets, registration forms etc.)

    • Serve project participants in developing and achieving skill areas identified in his/her PLP (Personalized Leaming Plan)

    • Support in project reporting and capturing of required data

    • Participate regularly in various partner school committee meetings

    • Participate in training and supervision meetings as required

    **Minimum Qualifications: **

    • Master's degree in counseling, education, psychology, social work, or other relevant discipline

    • At least three years of experience in working with disadvantaged student populations in a secondary or higher education setting

    • Experience in academic advising, tutoring, counseling, teaching, or student affairs; computer proficiency

    • Knowledge of the college application process and financial aid policies and regulations

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $64,350. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
