    Harper Construction is seeking a SSHO for military construction projects located around San Diego, CA.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and public.
    • Conduct new employee safety orientation and ongoing job-specific safety training.
    • Draft and conduct weekly “all hands safety meetings” with the entire project workforce.
    • Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations, and owner/contractual requirements.
    • Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections.
    • Participate in safety pre-construction meetings.
    • Identify known/potential hazards and recommend corrective action.
    • Maintain a comprehensive Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), and safety documentation binder on site.

    Required Qualifications

    • Able to meet the qualifications of USACE EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual (2014) Section 1.
      • 30 Hour OSHA Construction certification or equivalent
      • 5 years of continuous experience in construction safety and health in supervising / managing general construction
      • Current 1st aid/CPR certification

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in Safety and Health or related discipline.
    • 40 Hour EM-385 1-1 (2014) training certificate.
    • Structural Steel, concrete, and CMU construction experience.
    • OSHA 500 OTI Train the trainer certification.
    • First Aid/ CPR/ AED Trainer.
    • Competent and/or experienced in Haz Com, Fall Protection, Aerial lifts, Scaffolding, PPE requirements, Confined Space, Ladders, LOTO, Trenching/ Excavation, Demolition, and Heavy Equipment.
    • Certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
    • Ability to review, revise, save, and digitally sign Activity Hazard Analysis as well as associated safety documentation.
    • Experience with Procore.
    • Be able to pass background check and get a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) base access pass.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • $100,000 to $120,000 salary range
      • The offered rate will be based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience.
    • This position is eligible for our benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance. We also offer a 401(k) plan with company match, company paid holidays and vacation.
