    Site-based Mentor – Broadview (SBM)

    (1.5 hour every Saturday, $75 per session) Part-time Contractor

    The Site-Based Mentor will play a crucial role in guiding, supporting, and coaching students at a specific location (e.g., school, community center, or organization). This role involves providing personalized mentoring to youth, fostering their growth, and assisting them in overcoming challenges related to academic, or personal development. The SBM will be the point of contact for mentees and will work closely with program coordinators, other mentors, and key stakeholders to ensure the success and well-being of each individual. The SBM will report directly to the Executive Director, Bernard Lilly Sr.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Mentoring and Support: Provide one-on-one or small group mentoring to assigned individuals, offering guidance in areas such as academic achievement, personal growth, and social skills. Build trusting relationships with mentees to encourage open communication and growth. Develop personalized action plans to help mentees set and achieve goals.

    Goal Setting and Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with mentees to set clear, measurable goals for personal and academic development. Regularly track and evaluate mentees' progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure successful outcomes. Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions, achievements, and challenges.

    Skill Development: Assist mentees in developing essential life skills, including time management, study habits, and problem-solving. Provide resources, tools, and strategies to help mentees overcome obstacles and improve their skills.

    Feedback and Reporting: Provide regular feedback to program coordinators, supervisors, and other relevant stakeholders regarding mentees’ progress and any challenges they may be facing. Report on any significant developments, success stories, or areas requiring additional support.

    Collaboration: Work closely with other mentors, educators, counselors, or managers to coordinate support services and resources for mentees. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance mentoring effectiveness.

    ·Crisis Intervention (if applicable): Provide immediate support or referrals when mentees encounter significant personal, academic, or professional challenges that require special attention. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant protocols and guidelines for addressing sensitive situations.

    Community Engagement: Encourage mentees to become involved in community service, networking opportunities, or extracurricular activities to foster personal growth. Help connect mentees with relevant community resources or opportunities for further development.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

    Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

    Ability to motivate and inspire individuals to achieve their full potential.

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or other relevant software tools.

    Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in mentoring or counseling.

    Empathetic, patient, and understanding.

    Nonjudgmental and able to create a safe and supportive environment.

    Professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.

    A passion for helping others succeed and grow.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to move about the site, carry materials, and engage with participants in active settings (e.g., workshops, events).

    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, as required by the nature of the program.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, human services, or related field preferred.

    Experience working with diverse populations, including students, at-risk youth is a plus.

    Previous experience in mentoring programs, non-profit organizations, or related educational support initiatives

    Must be able to successfully pass background check

    Must have a valid driver’s license, and access to reliable transportation

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

    Organizational and project management skills

    Knowledge of best practices in mentoring and student support services
