    Position Summary:

    Do you love teaching kids?

    If you're looking for a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work with kids this is your dream come true. Snapology of Westwood covers towns of Westwood, Canton, Dedham, Norwood, Newton, Wellesley. You will be helping us promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. Week day classes are usually between 2-5pm, weekend events can be from 10-6 and we can work with your schedule to assign classes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activities

    Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment

    Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures

    Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology

    Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies

    Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions

    Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs

    Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs

    Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, round tables as required.

    Qualifications:

    Pass Criminal and Child Clearances (Background checks and Livescan fingerprinting per school district)

    Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

    2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment

    Education degree or teaching experience recommended, teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position

    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

    Engaging: The ability to engage and captivate the students is crucial. The instructor should use dynamic teaching methods and interactive activities to keep students interested and motivated.

    Fun: Creating a fun and enjoyable learning environment is important. The instructor should plan and conduct activities that are both educational and entertaining, recognizing that enjoyment in learning fosters better engagement and retention.

    Positive: A positive attitude is essential. The instructor should encourage and motivate students, fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that helps students feel confident and valued.

    Careful: Attention to detail is a must. The instructor should be meticulous in planning and execution to ensure safety, accuracy, and thoroughness in all aspects of the job.

    Flexible Schedule M-F (Any days and times that work for you between 9 - 7pm)

    This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, instructors typically work between 6-30 hours per week.
