    Solvet Services is a hiring Social Workers in support of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

    LOCATION: Alexandria, LA area. 

      REQUIREMENTS:

      • Bachelor's degree in social science
      • Licensed Social Workers preferred OR 3 years of experience working with families and children in a professional setting
      • Automobile with active insurance - must me verifiable at all times
      • Must be able to pass criminal history check and drug screening

      SCHEDULE: VARIES, typical shifts are overnights

      EXPECTED JOB DUTIES: Under very close supervision, may perform the following duties based upon program assignment:

      CHILD PROTECTION INVESTIGATION:

      • Obtains identifying information, determines if the report meets intake requirements as established by state law, determines the current status of the child and/or adult to evaluate extent of danger/risk, determines priority level of report, and prepares complaint form.
      • Investigate allegations of abuse and/or neglect of children and/or adults in accordance with agency policy and state law. Provides those services required for the child's immediate safety.
      • May serve on 24-hour on-call duty to respond to child abuse and/or neglect reports.
      • Prevention of out of home placements

      FAMILY SERVICES:

      • Assesses needs in response to identified problems with particular focus on those affecting the parent/child relationship, parenting ability, or other factors contributing to the abusive and/or neglectful environment in the family.
      • Conducts regular home visits with the family to assess safety and risk factors and determine further treatment needs.
      • Develops a case plan with the family to address identified issues and to link the family to community resources.

      FOSTER CARE:

      • Participates in developing case plans and objectives in family team conferences and agency staffing's and prepares cases for presentation to the multi-disciplinary team for consultation.
      • Provides supportive counseling and other supportive services for clients and arranges for the provision of services from community resources based on the case plan.
      • Interviews clients and families and composes correspondence to compile social histories and psychosocial assessments.
      • Prepares and submits appropriate reports to the court and the district attorney on cases in compliance with state laws and agency policy, prepares and submits necessary affidavits, and testifies in court proceedings.
      • Conducts regular home visits to assess safety factors and works with the family toward reunification or some other permanent placement for the child.
      • Searches for relatives and locates, selects, and oversees the most appropriate placement or change of placement for a child.

      EXPECTATIONS:

      • Contractor will document hours worked, document cases worked, tasks completed on those cases, and/or meetings or trainings attended.
      • Contractor shall maintain on file all times of performing services under this contract that document the completion of deliverables as outlined in the Scope of Work. This documentation shall be provided to DCFS.
      • Contractors will ensure their staff are available for all trainings that are mandatory to perform the role of a Child Welfare Specialist.
      • The Contractor will ensure that each staff person understands and can meet the expectations associated with a child welfare specialist through a planning document. An evaluation of the staff will be completed to measure that staff person’s success.
      • Quantitative measures will be reviewed at the onset of implementation, including number of backlog cases in the region, the number of open cases, average caseload of each worker, etc. with the expectation that those numbers will improve and are closer to the expected case standards. This will be looked at quarterly following implementation.

      EQUIPMENT/SUPPLIES:

      • DCFS is responsible for furnishing equipment and access to databases to complete case activities by the contractor.
      • The Contractor will ensure staff have vehicles available for use and ensure sufficient insurance coverage for liability.

      TRAVEL:

      • Mileage reimbursement.
