    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Software Developer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    Responsibilities:

     

    Develops application software. Writing and implementing efficient code. Researches, designs, develops and implements software applications and systems. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Evaluates, designs and implements interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, cloud offering, system architecture, security and characteristics of overall system. Researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs. Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications. Determining operational practicality. Documents testing, client experience and maintenance of system corrections. May partner and collaborate with cyber security teams to ensure compliance with security standards. May develop and conduct unit tests.

    Required skills include:

    • Experience developing for a Linux environment
    • Developing software-based automation for monitoring, controlling and debugging right hardware such as IMUs and radios
    • 5+ years of experience of software development for custom avionics interfaces and military or commercial avionics standards such as ARINC-429, MILSTD-1553, SNMP is needed.
    • Experience with tactical radios including Link-16, TTNT, PRC 117
    • High-level knowledge of hardware integration, installation and maintenance
    • 5+ years of experience with Software programming skills, including a significant percentage of the following: C/C++, Python, MATLAB
    • Knowledge and experience with networking protocols; especially in the area of network management.
    • Knowledge and experience of ISSO Duties with COMSEC Clearance.

    Preferred skills:

    • Experience operating and maintaining Field test infrastructure, especially avionics and communications systems
    • Ability to have or maintain a Class III FAA medical certificate

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 7 years Software/Algorithm Development
    • 5 years Experience with tactical radios including Link-16, TTNT, PRC 117
    • 5 years Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
    • 7 years Software Documentation
    • 5 years C/C++ Programming
    • 7 years Development experience on a Linux platform
    • 7 years Object Oriented Software Design and Development
    • 5 years Programming (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
    • 7 years Software Architecture
    • 7 years COMSEC Equipment
    • 7 years Developing software-based automation for monitoring, controlling and debugging flight hardware
    • 7 years software development for custom avionics interfaces and military or commercial avionics standards
    • 7 years Hardware and Software Integration
