    About the Role:

    Aquila is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Software Engineer will be responsible for setting up a software testbed for wireless network emulation. This testbed consists of containers, custom programs, and graphical elements. To excel, one should have a strong understanding of both software-defined networking concepts and container applications.

    There are a few requirements for the position:

    • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
    • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
    • Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

    Responsibilities:

    The Software Engineer will help with application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Supports, maintains and documents software functionality. Integrates software with existing systems. Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation. Maintains standards compliance. Implements localization or globalization of software

    What You'll Bring:

    • Software-defined networking or traditional networking experience, especially open-source versions 
    • Significant experience with Mininet in a workplace setting on a project
    • Networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, etc.)
    • Software containers (docker, podman, etc.) 
    • Programming languages: Python, Bash, Java 
    • Software visualization development (dashboards, webpages, etc.) 
    • Experience working in a network testbed environment previously

    Must Have

     

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 5years Networking Applications and Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and HTTP/S.
    • 5 years Significant experience with Mininet
    • 5 years Software-defined networking or traditional networking experience, including open-source versions
    • 5 years Object Oriented Software Design and Development
    • 5 years Python and Bash scripting
    • 5 years Python Programming/Scripting
    • 5 years Software Design/Development
    • 5 years Software visualization development (dashboards, webpages, etc.)
    • 5 years Containerization (Docker, podman, etc.)
    • 5 years Hardware and Software Integration
    • 5 years Experience with network test bed systems

    Desired Certifications/Nice to Have:

    • Familiarity with the Linux operating system is highly desirable

    Location: Hybrid \- Candidate should expect to work onsite 4 days/wk with one day remote. There may be some program work that requires more onsite work.
