    Job Summary:

    During this six-month-long internship, the Software Engineer Intern will be responsible for researching, designing, building, and maintaining software and robotics systems and applications. To be successful as a Software Engineer Intern you should be technically oriented and enjoy solving complex challenges. Ultimately, a top-notch Software Engineer Intern should be innovative, open-minded, and an excellent troubleshooter.

    Key Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Build and optimize our localization/mapping packages and systems for our globally deployed robots.
    • Depending on the candidate's background, work on a specific project. For example, the project may be the followings but not limited to:
      • Graph-based SLAM
      • Vision-based localization
      • Improvement of our mislocalization detection
      • Improvement of our relocalization features
      • Implementation of simulation pipelines for localization
    • Your organization skills, go-getter personality, and people-focused mentality are the right tools to grow into a tech lead role.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None.

    Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

    • Experience with coding in C, C++, Python.
    • Experience with working in Unix/Linux environments.
    • Experience with using git or any version control software.

    Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

    • Expertise and deep understanding about probability theory and sensor fusion such as EKF, particle filter, etc
    • Experience with using ROS or any middleware.
    • Familiarity with g2o, GTSAM, or any graph-based optimization
    • Familiarity with advanced SLAM techniques such as VINS, ORB-SLAM, Fast-LIO, etc
    • Familiarity with Gazebo simulator
    • Familiarity with third-party libraries such as OpenCV, PCL, Eigen, Ceres, etc.
    • Has some publication experience (such as ICRA, IROS, etc)
    • Ability to work on projects related to robotics, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, and/or networking, preferred.
    • Ability to showcase tech projects and participate in computer science-related extracurricular activities, preferred.

    Education/Experience:

    • In pursuit of an advanced degree (Master's, or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

    The pay range for this position is $36 - $44/hr.
