Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Solar Permitting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire permitting process for residential and commercial solar projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate the smooth and timely completion of installations. This role requires a solid understanding of permitting procedures, strong project management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end permitting process for solar installations, including submitting applications, tracking approvals, and securing necessary permits from local jurisdictions.
Serve as the main point of contact for city officials, utility representatives, and regulatory agencies to resolve any permitting issues.
Review permit requirements and ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering and operations, to provide permitting guidance and support.
Develop and maintain relationships with municipal and utility contacts to streamline permitting processes.
Monitor permit status and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
Implement strategies to expedite the permitting process and minimize delays in project timelines.
Manage project budgets related to permitting and compliance, ensuring costs are controlled and reported accurately.
Maintain a comprehensive database of permits, applications, and compliance documents for all active projects.
Conduct training sessions for team members on permitting procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a permitting, compliance, or project management role, preferably in the solar or construction industry.
Strong understanding of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements for solar installations.
Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory processes and build relationships with permitting authorities.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in permitting software and project management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Asana, Smartsheet).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is a plus.
