Background: LDR is a private equity firm focused on investing in micro-cap industrial manufacturing businesses. Our ideal investments have $2-7mm of EBITDA and are clear market leaders providing mission-critical, customized B2B Industrial products. LDR maintains its headquarters in downtown Houston, TX, where this position will be based with an expectation of a hybrid remote/office presence.
Position Description: As a Sourcing & Originations Investment Associate, you will play a pivotal role on our investment team, contributing to the identification, evaluation, and management of investment opportunities. You will work closely with senior team members to conduct thorough due diligence, analyze financial data, and help drive investment decisions. You will also be deeply involved in working with our portfolio companies, not only monitoring performance, but also participating in critical value creation initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the private equity industry and contribute to the growth and success of the firm.
Major Responsibilities:
Assist the Sourcing & Originations team on assessing new platform and bolt-on opportunities that
present themselves through the fund’s sourcing efforts
Daily review and discussion of confidential information memorandums, review/catalog NDA’s,
recommendations on next steps for early opportunities.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential new platform and bolt-on investment
opportunities, including financial analysis, market research, competitive analysis, and risk
assessments.
Participate in the coordination of all parties involved in prospective deal opportunities (e.g. brokers,
subject matter expert management, and third-party diligence providers.
Collaborate with the Portfolio Operations team to ensure bolt-on opportunities align with platform
long term goals
Prepare and review investment memorandums, deal bid letters and investment analyses for internal
and external stakeholders.
Consistently update platform strategy memos to ensure near and long term goals align with
acquisition opportunity identification
Assist in the maintenance of a database of firm’s relationships with deal sources and service
providers.
Skills / Characteristics:
Outstanding reading comprehension
Outstanding understanding of financial modeling and analytical skills
Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and capital structures
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to comfortably interact with senior management (internal & external)
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements: Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
Strong academic credentials and achievement
2-4 years of relevant experience in Investment Banking or Private Equity, preferably in a sourcing,
originations, or M&A related role
Strong M&A and deal execution experience from a reputable investment bank or private equity firm
Understanding of private equity sourcing and originations efforts
Ability to build and synthesize complex financial models to evaluate feasibility and suitability of new
investment opportunities
Experience collaborating with expert networks
Experience building Investment Committee Memorandums and/or platform thesis pitch decks
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
