  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Westerville. As second-in-command of our kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure exceptional food quality, maintain efficient kitchen operations, and lead our talented culinary staff.

    • Oversee daily kitchen operations and coordinate food preparation activities
    • Assist in menu planning and development while maintaining portion and quality control standards
    • Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure high performance and food quality standards
    • Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain relationships with food suppliers
    • Monitor food costs and kitchen budget while minimizing waste
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
    • Maintain proper food handling, storage, and rotation procedures
    • Assist in creating and standardizing recipes
    • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery
    • Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma required; culinary school degree or equivalent preferred
    • Minimum 3-5 years of professional kitchen experience with demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Current Food Handler's certification required
    • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and cooking methods
    • Excellent understanding of food costs, inventory control, and budget management
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high culinary standards
    • Strong leadership and team management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Physical stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
    • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
    • Knowledge of menu planning and food presentation
    • Proficiency in kitchen management and inventory systems
