    Job Description

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide overall servant leadership, communicating the school's mission, vision and values to the faculty/staff, parents, students, community and ACSI at large.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Oversee the daily operation of the school including programs and activities in Early Education, SummerQuest, and SCS after school care called Sabre KidsTime (SKT). In so doing, maintain all DSS regulations and ACSI accreditation standards.
      • Coordinate and direct the Early Education and extended day programs (Toddlers-Kindergarten)
      • Organize and execute safe and efficient arrival and dismissal of students, including inside the building procedures and carline
      • Follow all DSS regulations for staff, students, records, building and safety codes, and health and sanitation issues
      • Provide yearly reports to ACSI
      • Oversee Kindergarten graduation and other programs
      • Maintain readiness for unannounced DSS inspections
      • Prepare for DSS licensing inspection every 2 years
      • Accompany DSS specialist on inspections
      • Maintain staff and student records for DSS
      • Oversee employee completion of yearly DSS training
    • Recruit, interview and recommend hiring of new faculty/staff.
      • Recruit, interview and recommend new teachers for EE, SKT, and SummerQuest
      • Schedule full- and part-time employees to meet needs and ratios
      • Secure substitutes based on the needs of the role and within DSS regulations
      • Adjust staffing schedules as needed to maintain ratios and quality
    • Perform faculty/staff formative and summative evaluations.
      • Provide observation and supervision of the EE staff
      • Coordinate individual teacher development
      • Check and supervise weekly lesson plans/curriculum guides/scope and sequence
    • Provide on-going faculty/staff professional development (including orientation, goal setting, instructional supervision of teaching styles and methods, curriculum development, classroom management, etc.).
      • Supervise/train the SKT/SummerQuest director
      • Aid and supervise curriculum development
      • Conduct staff meetings
      • Monitor and provide staff training including DSS regulations and ACSI guidelines
    • Interview prospective students and families for admission. Develop an on-going partnership with those who are admitted.
      • Conduct tours/interviews with potential families in coordination with the Enrollment Management department
      • Coordinate and monitor student/parent/teacher conferences
      • Counsel with parents concerning various aspects of school/home relationship
    • Able to assist parents and/or employees with difficult situations and to mediate conflict situations when needed
    • Able to problem-solve creatively
    • Contribute to and monitor student spiritual, academic and behavioral progress.
      • Oversee the planning and conduction of EE chapel
      • Review planning for and approve EE field trips
      • Supervise student discipline
      • Collaborate with Student Success Services for individual student needs
    • Develop and manage the Early Education department's budget.
      • Develop and oversee the EE, SKT, and SummerQuest budgets
      • Coordinate the purchase of supplies and textbooks
      • Oversee completion of staff timeclock
    • Serve as a member of the superintendent's Administrative Council.
      • Create/revise sections in the Handbook for Students & Parents and Employee Handbook
      • Coordinate with leadership of other areas of SCS

    QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:

    • Be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and be in agreement with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
    • Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
    • Be a member of a local, evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice to the SCS Statement of Faith for personal spiritual growth and accountability
    • All applicants must have a master's degree including training and experience in Early Childhood Education. Doctoral degree preferred.
    • All applicants must be able to obtain ACSI certification.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to facilitate carline arrival and dismissal.
