    Location: Various locations across Indiana, including Evansville Psychiatric Children's Center, Evansville State Hospital, Logansport State Hospital, Madison State Hospital, Richmond State Hospital, and the Indianapolis Neurodiagnostic Institute.

    Position Overview:
    The Special Attendant ensures the security and safety of residents in a state-operated hospital facility while supporting their daily activities and treatment plans. This role involves monitoring behavior, providing therapeutic interventions, assisting with personal care, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High School Diploma or HSE diploma.
    • Licensure: CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
    • Experience: 1+ years in a relevant role preferred.
    • Technical Skills: Knowledge of therapeutic rehabilitation programs and mental health client needs.
    • Soft Skills: Crisis response, de-escalation, behavior management, and effective communication.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and ensure resident safety, applying restraint techniques when necessary.
    • Escort residents to activities, appointments, and off-site locations.
    • Assist with daily living tasks (e.g., hygiene, meals, cleaning) per treatment plans.
    • Conduct facility searches to prevent contraband possession.
    • Implement therapeutic interventions and manage aggressive behavior.
    • Administer basic first aid and emergency care as needed.
