Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing educational support and guidance to students with special needs. You will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes growth and development.
Join our talented and student-centered team of educators! Perks include free on-site daycare (check for space available), 191 work days a year, 1 week off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks off for winter break, 1 week off for spring break, strong team collaboration, early dismissal Fridays for students so teachers can participate in professional development, side by side coaching to strengthen classroom management and instructional skills, and teaching methodologies based on evidenced based practices
Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Provide instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student
- Utilize behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior and create a structured classroom environment using CHAMPs and JIES expectations for positive classroom management.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to ensure the success of each student
- Use assistive technology and specialized materials to enhance learning experiences and create legal documents
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
-Assess students to support evaluations, data collection and determining eligibility based on CDE criteria
-Ability to lead and collaborate with instructional teams
- Provide behavioral therapy and interventions as required
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect and acceptance
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
- Experience working with students with diverse needs, such as preschool, deaf education, or behavioral challenges
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and planning
- Strong understanding of early childhood education and childhood development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators, parents, and support staff

Meets subject, grade level, and/or content area qualifications consistent with Colorado Department of Education and James Irwin Charter School requirements - Special Services Provider License: Initial - Colorado Department of Education, Special Services Provider License: Professional - Colorado Department of Education
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Hours per Day: 8 hours
Number of Days per Year: 191 days

***** Starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience, education, licensures, etc. pertaining to the field provided on the job application depending upon previous and relevant work experience.
*Staff is assigned based on case load to James Irwin Charter Schools on the same campus to maximize student learning and access to the curriculum.
