New Leader Academy seeks a creative and energetic Special Education Teacher to join our unique research-based therapeutic day school dedicated to the highest levels of achievement for children with special needs. This role requires a teacher who will be an integral part of implementing our existing dynamic movement-based learning model which includes movement-based learning. Our educational approach focuses on maximum achievement for each child in many different areas as well as academic achievement, but our approach also focuses on the sensory needs of children, music, rhythm, audio, and the use of highly specialized digital technology for learning and to increase motivation. This is truly a unique learning environment not only for children but for the staff who will be working in our program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to participate in the active program that we have set up for students.
As part of this new school startup, candidates should understand that flexibility and adaptability are crucial for developing and refining our educational approach and setting up a program that is highly successful for all students.
Key Responsibilities and Job Tasks
Implement the high-quality existing dynamic education program that aligns with our structured movement-based model, ensuring adherence to our guidelines while also bringing personal and professional creativity within the established framework
Engage actively in the program which encourages dynamic movement throughout the school day in various environments both inside and outside the building, modelling and participating in movement activities to promote and facilitate student participation
Knowledge of various digital and standard curricular materials and programs, and the ability to learn new programs as they are introduced at New Leader Academy
Be an active part of a large team including not only educators within our program, but also parents and community organizations to enhance the educational experience and ensure implementation of effective and relevant project-based learning and integration with real-life community systems
Bring professional, creative, and pedagogical approaches to teaching to your own group of students and to our program, enriching the curriculum and instructional methods within the framework of our program
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Valid state certification in Special Education
A commitment to professional development and staying informed on the latest educational research and practices
Ability to manage a classroom that includes students with a wide variety of behavioral responses and educational/sensory needs
Flexible personality and adaptive approach to education, essential for navigating the dynamic environment of a new school startup
Physical Requirements
Capable of participating in and facilitating dynamic physical activities throughout the school day
Able to handle the physical demands of working with children of various abilities, including moving and assisting children as needed
