SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER / SETSS PROVIDER
Mighty Minds and Muscles is seeking a Special Education Teacher (or dual degreed Vision Teacher) to be a 1:1 SETSS provider for a long-term placement with at least one student in Brooklyn (primary case is in Red Hook). Ideal SETSS candidate has experienced with students with visual and hearing impairments as well as ACC device and technology use.
Hours per week: 10-15 hours/week with one student - with potential additional hours as desired. (*Other cases available in multiple locations as well as in our Tribeca learning center.)
Pay: According to your experience and performance. Not impacted by the recent DOE changes.

This primary case is for a middle elementary student with visual and hearing impairments that needs 1:1 support daily with ALL assignments adapted to meet his visual abilities and work volume capacity. This role is integrated into the classroom and performed as a team approach in combination with his ICT classroom teachers, Vision Teacher an individual paraprofessional and a co-SETSS teachers (you will share the role with the other teacher).
As strong background in middle elementary teaching and curriculum differentiation, as well as interest and experience in digital teaching tools, including but not limited to extensive use of PowerPoint, Word, Google Drive, Reading Apps like Bookshare, RazKids, VoiceStream and Math apps and use of various abacuses. Experience with AAC and FM devices is desired! A creative mind that can anticipate his challenges and adapt his assignments in a timely manner is necessary.
Planning time is paid and supervision and mentorship as well as materials is provided by the agency. Training and continuous support will be provided upfront and ongoing by collaborative teachers (Vision Teacher), agency Occupational Therapists and his parents.
This is paid through an agency, above the new standard rates. We pay well and will support you long term. Bonus and other benefits possible for the right candidate and subsequent performance. You will work within an integrated team and not be alone on an iceberg!

Can not be an NYC DOE Employee within one calendar year.
PAY: $70 - $115 /hour with bonus potential depending on experience and performance.
Bonus if you are a Vision Teacher with Spec.Ed degree.
Placement is immediate with paid training provided.
