caregiver for 17-year-old NON-VERBAL autistic boy - Special Needs experience required.

This is a Thursday to Sunday - Every other weekend overnight position which would arrive Thursday late afternoon and stay until Sunday early evening.

This is an ideal position for someone that has or wants experience working with special needs people – behavior or any therapist, ABA or person with special needs experience.

This role requires someone that is physically active - walking, swimming and can keep up with my son.

The person in this role will serve as a companion that will attend fun events – concerts, games, zoos, various outings - over the weekends and help if we take any family trips. My son is a non-verbal gentle giant, he is 6’8”, you must be kind, but firm and re-direct/provide guidance when needed.

The person in this position would be a caregiver over the weekends to supervise meals, self-care/hygiene activities such as showering, restroom visits (primarily to ensure it is done correctly and completely), bedtime routine and ensure he is safe where you all venture. Example of the schedule:

Thursday – Arrive in the late afternoon/evening – sitting with Liam while he is swimming and engage/play with him while he is in the pool or swim with him – he typically allowed to swim for 2 hours, help with exiting the pool and getting him into the shower and ensure he washes thoroughly, dinner, possibly another outing.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday – Getting up with him anywhere from 7am to 10am, sitting with him through all meals, outings to various events or locations where there are memberships – zoos, MIM, Science Center, etc.…, swimming, hygiene activities, getting ready for bed and usually asleep between 9pm to 10pm depending on outings. The caregiver leaving from 5pm to 6pm.

Plans are subject to change depending on scheduled or suggested sporting events, concerts, or other performances.
