    Description:

    The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office in South Bend, Indiana, seeks an investigator to join its Special Victims Unit, which investigates and prosecutes sex crimes and child abuse. Our new investigator will become part of a busy team with investigators assigned to the SVU from the South Bend Police Department, Mishawaka Police Department and St. Joseph Police Department.

    The team in this office includes Prosecutor Ken Cotter, deputy prosecuting attorneys, paralegals, investigators, child support caseworkers, victim advocates and support staff. We work with residents, police and other government leaders to make St. Joseph County a better place to live and raise a family.

    Essential Functions:

    • Investigate sex crimes and child abuse
    • Assist in determining scope, timing and direction of investigation
    • Obtain evidence or establishes facts by interviewing, observing, and interrogating suspects and witnesses and analyzing records.
    • Verify information obtained to establish accuracy and authenticity of facts and evidence
    • Present findings in clear, logical, impartial and properly documented reports
    • Share information and coordinate with other offices or agencies when applicable
    • Appear and testify in depositions or court hearings
    • Other duties may be assigned

    Qualifications: Successful applicants should have at least 10 years of investigatory experience in law enforcement.
