    Job Description

    • Uncommon’s Data & IT (D&IT) team is undergoing an exciting transformation to improve our technology operations and the systems supporting our mission. Uncommon Schools is seeking a talented and creative Specialist, Workday Systems with experience in Workday HCM and/or financial systems enhancements, deployments, and ongoing enterprise systems support and maintenance. This role will support the team and collaborate with all levels of the Talent, Accounting, Finance, IT, and school-based teams. The role is a key member of the IT Workday Team and is expected to contribute to the planning, prioritization, and execution of our continued implementation and the future Workday roadmap.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Meet collaboratively with team, functional leaders, and stakeholders to support recent deployment of the Workday system
    • Troubleshoot functional and configuration issues from all levels of the organization using the sandbox testing tenant first to find creation solutions, followed by careful and deliberate changes to the production environment. Communicate work results in appropriate directions
    • Review ticket queue based on functional expertise to categorize, prioritize, respond, and resolve end-user questions and concerns within the IT service level agreement
    • Monitor and respond to functional inquiries using chat, email, video conference, and phone
    • Expand personal knowledge base of Workday through inquisitive curiosity, trial and error testing, research, and available online learning
    • Document and track information in support of the day-to-day operations of Workday

    Systems Design/maintenance:

    • Assist with maintenance of payroll (both HCM and financial aspects of the system)based on both strategic and daily functional and operational requirements
    • Work closely with Payroll, Finance, HR, and Accounting team leads and stakeholders to identify and implement methods for improving current functional processes; promoting process standardization, efficiency and standard methodologies within the bounds of the Workday system and Workday Community best practices
    • present efficiencies through thoughtful options analysis in response to functional requests
    • Assist with rollout of bi-annual and monthly upgrades, keeps an eye on What’s New for upcoming releases, creates relevant testing use cases, frames and encourages testing of new features and old functionality for functional leads/teams
    • Project Manages and guides scope definition, design sessions, testing, and deployment of operational enhancements
    • Support the teams in documenting ongoing care and feeding of Workday processes

    Data Governance, Reporting, and Integrations:

    • Under the guidance of the IT & Data Governance structure, along with Workday Management, help to create and implement solutions, standards and controls which will encourage and ensure data accuracy and integrity for the future of Uncommon’s analytics and planning
    • In collaboration with the Workday Team and functional stream leads, monitor daily, weekly, monthly, and scheduled integrations for completion and errors. Work with teams to resolve errors and ensure uptime on all relevant integrations.
    • Partner with IT team on the understanding, management and movement of data in support of downstream processes, systems, and other operations which rely on the Enterprise data
    • As a practice, always first find existing reports to meet functional requests for data. When a report is not pre-delivered, scope, design, build and deploy new reports to authorized users.
    • Give constant and careful consideration always to the necessary security of data encapsulate in any new report or process - always ensure sensitivity, privacy, and compliance of the data
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Certificate or coursework in Business, Accounting, IT Management, or Workday preferred

    Experience Requirements:

    • 3+ years of working experience leading complex, medium to large-scale administrative systems projects with a business and technology focus
      • 2+ years experience in Workday processes execution ( configuration preferred )
      • 1+ years experience in enterprise systems lead role
      • Expertise in one or more functional areas of Workday support, configuration, execution, and/or deployments. (HCM, Benefit, Time and Absence, Recruiting, Payroll, Financial Accounting, Banking and Settlement, Procurement, Commitment Accounting, Supplier Accounts, Business Assets, Revenue Management, or Grants Management)
      • Experience in loading EIBs and troubleshooting integration with other applications

    Travel/Schedule:

    • Minimum 3 days a week in our central office located in downtown Manhattan

    Compensation

    Compensation for this role is between $82,000 to $97,000.

    Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements you will likely receive an offer of $87,300.
