Job Description
Job Overview: The Specimen Processor will enter all patient demographic and testing information into the LIS system, label all samples for testing, and run automated aliquoting equipment. The specimen processor will check samples and requisition forms for adequacy and accuracy, flagging and following appropriate processes for handling of discrepancies or issues.
** Specimen Processor _ **** responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following_:**
Enter patient data into the LIS system and accurately label patient samples.
Create, update, and maintain sample tracking information in MS Excel spreadsheets
Run automated equipment and incubators.
Follow appropriate daily decontamination protocols.
Handle problem or discrepancy resolution upon receipt of information from the Customer Care team.
Organize, restock, and monitor inventory of laboratory supplies.
Adherence and understanding of laboratory SOPs and processes surrounding specimen processing, laboratory safety, and all other policies and procedures to safeguard integrity of laboratory results.
Maintain accurate record keeping utilizing Good Documentation Practices for daily quality control and corrective action for any laboratory protocol deviations.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of pre-analytic processes.
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications
_ Minimum Educational Qualifications:_
High school diploma required
Bachelor’s degree or related experience preferred
_ Minimum Qualifications:_
Ability to accurately follow and remember written instructions.
Ability to type 45 words per minute.
Computer literacy and typing accuracy.
Experience recording data and using formulas in MS Excel.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency in computer skills.
Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
Occasional schedule flexibility.
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Additional Information
Position is full-time working Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm OR Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am - 6:30pm with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Louisville, KY are encouraged to apply.
