    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Sports Instructor to join our After School Program. This role involves leading engaging and age-appropriate sports and physical activities for preschool and school-age children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, experience in sports instruction, and a commitment to fostering a positive and active environment where children can develop motor skills, teamwork, and confidence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Plan and Lead Sports Activities: Design and lead structured sports activities, games, and lessons for preschool and school-age children, ensuring activities are fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate.

    Skill Development: Focus on teaching basic athletic skills such as coordination, balance, strength, and agility. Introduce children to sports like soccer, basketball, t-ball, and other group games.

    Safety First: Maintain a safe and supportive environment by actively monitoring children during activities, ensuring proper equipment usage, and enforcing safety rules.

    Promote Teamwork and Positive Behavior: Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship through group activities, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

    Individual Attention: Adapt activities to meet the varying skill levels and abilities of each child, providing guidance and support to help children achieve personal milestones.

    Supervise and Engage: Actively supervise and engage children during free time, ensuring they stay active, engaged, and well-behaved.

    Communication: Maintain open communication with the Program Coordinator and other staff members regarding any child-related concerns or activity adjustments.

    Maintain Equipment: Ensure that sports equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for.

    Promote Physical Fitness: Foster a love for physical activity by encouraging children to develop healthy habits and a positive attitude toward sports and fitness.

    Qualifications:

    Experience: Previous experience working with children, preferably in an after school or recreational setting. Experience coaching or instructing sports is a plus.

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. College students studying education, physical education, child development, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

    Skills:

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to create a fun, engaging, and educational environment.

    Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

    Knowledge of basic sports rules and strategies for children’s sports.

    Certifications:

    First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Background check required.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to actively participate in physical activities, including running, jumping, and demonstrating sports techniques.

    Ability to lift sports equipment and assist children with physical tasks.
