Performs a variety of part time clerical, administrative, customer service, public contact and organizational development projects, including minor maintenance work, in the City of Moab Recreation Department.
Supervision Received: The Sports Program Assistant works under the general supervision of the Sports Manager and Sports Assistant and, when needed, the Parks, Recreation and Trails Director.
Supervision Exercised: The Sports Program Assistant works with the Sports Manager to supervise the activities of volunteers, coaches, paid officials, part time maintenance crews, other part time staff and scorekeepers.
This position supports the day‐to‐day functions of sports and other recreation programs and facilities operated by the City of Moab by:
Attending and overseeing evening and weekend sporting events organized by the Moab Sports Dept.
Performing general administrative and customer service support.
Assisting with recreation equipment inventory control and maintenance
An important component of the Sports Program Assistant's job duties is with regard to the coordination of activities & duties of volunteer coaches. This involves assisting with training and supervising officials for all sports activities; Coordination and execution of special recreational and community activities and events; This position also assists in overseeing the adult sports programs within the Recreation Department under the direction of the Sports Manager and Sports Assistant, and assists with the development of new programs and activities.
This position performs other related duties as required.

Outdoor activities will be required. Tasks may entail muscular strain, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting. Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to performing job requirements. Common eye, hand and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions.
