    Independence Community College (ICC) is seeking a dedicated and team-oriented professional to serve as the Sr. Director of Maintenance & Physical Facilities. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, custodial, grounds keeping, security, and transportation operations of the college’s physical plant. The Sr. Director will supervise a team and ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of all campus facilities.

    The role includes but is not limited to performing and managing building and grounds maintenance, coordinating campus facility usage, overseeing work orders and preventive maintenance, and assisting with campus activity setups.

    This is a full-time, 12-month salaried position reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Operations. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $71,000, with the final compensation determined based on experience and qualifications.

    Key Responsibilities

    Ensure the Maintenance & Facilities Department effectively responds to the daily operational needs of the college.

    Assess and anticipate future facility maintenance and improvement needs.

    Supervise and manage construction and renovation projects.

    Ensure compliance with ADA regulations and other applicable building codes.

    Oversee the scheduling and coordination of campus facilities for internal and external use.

    Direct and supervise all maintenance, custodial, and security personnel.

    Manage and complete work orders, prioritize maintenance tasks, and implement preventive maintenance programs.

    Recruit, train, evaluate, and manage maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.

    Maintain positive relationships with vendors, contractors, and external agencies.

    Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure efficient facility management.

    Develop and manage internal reports, including Clery Act, Campus Fire and Safety, and Fire Marshal reports.

    Chair the College Safety Committee, ensuring a safe campus environment and addressing potential hazards.

    Prepare and oversee the department’s budget, including bidding, procurement, and inventory management.

    Ensure timely completion of reports and communication with college leadership.

    Maintain high ethical standards and professionalism in all interactions.

    Continuously strive to maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming campus environment.

    Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Proven experience in facility maintenance and management.

    Two or more years of supervisory experience in maintenance operations, with expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems preferred.

    Certification or education in electrical work is highly desirable.

    Strong understanding of ADA regulations, Fire & Life Safety Codes, and Electrical Codes.

    Proficiency in time management, organization, and computer skills.

    Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.

    Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively.

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.

    Valid driver’s license required.
