    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This role presents a distinctive career opportunity to significantly contribute to team expansion and cultivate business relationships with utility customer bases in the region. You will have the chance to participate in establishing a program and influencing the direction of a key segment within our distribution engineering business.

    LOCATION: PA and largely remote

    JOB FUNCTION:

    • Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers
    • Interact directly with our utility client on a frequent, as-needed basis; including meetings at customer facilities
    • Review work provided by the Client and assess requirements of scopes.
    • Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
    • Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
    • Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
    • Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications

     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years of relevant work experience performing electric distribution design engineering either in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility
    • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution; Additional relevant experience can be considered in lieu of an engineering-specific degree
    • 1 year+ of demonstrated experience in a leadership role
    • Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval, including Customer interaction and Process documentation
    • Experience with utility reliability projects
    • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC
    • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
    • Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
    • Candidates should possess a valid U.S. driver's license

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous QAQC experience
    • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
    • Demonstrated history of Customer Interaction
    • Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc
    • Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills, and support of customer advocacy
