The Position The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data through analysis, validation, and reconciliation, with a focus on gross-to-net sales, chargebacks, discounts, rebates, and deductions in the pharmaceutical industry. The role includes supporting sales analysis, product profitability, bid management, pricing strategies, and market share analysis, along with preparing monthly MIS reports and assisting in claims dispute resolutions. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are key to success in this position.
Responsibilities and Duties: • Act as a customer liaison by reconciling and resolving customer concerns, disputes on pricing and/or deductions. Validate and prepare monthly and quarterly rebate and administrative fee summaries for payment to customers in a timely manner. • Lead deduction management process by providing guidance to the third party logistics and consultants to ensure accurate processing of transactional level detail. Manage daily and monthly transactions (eg. cash applications, customer remittances, etc) with third party logistics provider. Reconcile data from third party logistics and post journal entries as needed. • Analyze and prepare reconciliations of the accounts receivable portfolio, including quarterly true-ups. Develop procedures to improve the efficiency of these reconciliations as data volumes increase. • Interface with Sales & Marketing management to assist with data analyses, bids, pricing strategies, budgeting and reports. Monitor inventory to mitigate risks. • Prepare and distribute monthly summary reports to management (ie. returns) to provide better visibility into the business, customers and industry. Communicate customer related financial issues/transactions that arise as well as ongoing business at weekly meetings. • Provide general accounting (including ERP transition) and audit support.
Qualifications • Experience in pharmaceutical finance/accounting required (minimum of 5 years). • Familiarity with wholesaler chargeback & rebate experience is required. • Experience working with wholesalers (e.g. Cardinal, McKesson, ABC) and customer portals is preferred. • High level of proficiency with Excel required (e.g., VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.). Experience with QuickBooks and SAP a plus. • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field. CPA preferred. • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and financial statements is a plus.
