Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate and instill the company’s Core Values throughout the organization.
- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times by following and promoting safety policies and procedures.
- Strive to do things right the first time in collaboration with other support functions.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve product flow and increase throughput by evaluating plant layout, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Assist in the development of best practice process workflows and work instructions in pursuit of first-time quality results and increased throughput.
- Develop justifications and requisitions for the needed plant equipment and facilities. Support the development of the annual Spending Plan with anticipated capital expenditures.
- Assist in the design of tooling, fixtures, and dies for improving capabilities and/or increasing throughput.
- Participate in maintaining the Equipment Inventory list, Manufacturing Capabilities list, and proper tooling selection charts and lists.
- Work closely with maintenance and/or plant personnel to produce tooling, fabricate fixtures, and resolve equipment and facility issues in a timely manner. Coordinate with outside contractors performing work as required.
- Work with maintenance personnel in support of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
- Aid in reviewing and understanding drawings and schematics for major equipment repairs.
- Collaborate within a team atmosphere and contribute accordingly. Work in a respectful and professional manner with fellow employees, management, and suppliers.
- Actively participate in the improvement of processes and procedures to improve the safety, quality, throughput, and/or cost competitiveness of products.
- Document lessons learned to gain knowledge and insight on successes, shortcomings, and unintended outcomes in support of continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in project and production meetings to ensure manufacturing engineering projects are progressing as planned to support production schedules.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a heavy metal industry.
- Experience in custom heavy equipment manufacturing is a plus
Experience in machining and/or forming and fabrication/welding.

Knowledge:
- Excellent understanding of plant operations specifically in the areas of forming, welding, machining, and fabrication.
- Ability to develop 2D drawings with dimensions and tolerances from 3D models.
- Ability to develop CNC programs. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and hand G-code editing.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tools.
