Job Title: Senior Network Administrator
Location: Preferred on-site in Amarillo, Texas; remote work considered for candidates based in North Texas with frequent travel required.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Administrator with extensive experience managing and securing enterprise-level networks. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in Fortinet equipment and tools, hold relevant certifications, and demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting at the packet level. This role focuses on maintaining, securing, and optimizing existing network infrastructure, including managing ISP links and vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Administration:
Manage and maintain existing network infrastructure, ensuring stability, performance, and security.
Implement updates, patches, and configuration changes across network systems, focusing on Fortinet equipment.
Monitor network operations to identify and resolve performance or security issues proactively.
Fortinet Expertise:
Configure, manage, and maintain Fortinet firewalls, proxies, and other security appliances.
Develop and enforce security policies using Fortinet solutions to safeguard the organization’s network.
Application-Level Networking:
Support and manage application-layer protocols such as VoIP, DNS, and VPN (IPSec/SSL).
Troubleshoot and optimize application-level network performance.
ISP Link Management:
Oversee and maintain ISP links to ensure reliable connectivity.
Collaborate with vendors to resolve service issues, optimize performance, and manage contracts and relationships.
Advanced Troubleshooting:
Perform packet-level analysis to diagnose and resolve complex network and application-level issues.
Investigate and respond to security and performance incidents, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
Security & Encryption:
Maintain enterprise-wide intrusion detection and prevention systems.
Manage encryption technologies, including SSL/TLS, digital certificates, and public/private key infrastructures.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, policies, and incident logs.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
Experience:
7+ years of experience in network administration, with a strong focus on Fortinet equipment and solutions.
Proven ability to manage secure networks in enterprise environments.
Certifications:
Fortinet certifications such as Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) or Fortinet Certified Network Security Administrator (FCNSA) are required.
Additional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR an additional 2 years of relevant professional experience.
Technical Expertise:
Proficient with Fortinet products and technologies, as well as networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
Familiarity with packet-level analysis tools and application-level technologies like VoIP and VPN.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with enterprise-wide network monitoring and intrusion prevention systems.
Travel Requirements: Approximately one week per month of travel is required within North Texas for remote candidates. All candidates will need to travel occasionally to remote sites as part of their responsibilities. This is subject to change based on business needs.
