    Summary:

    Our award-winning client is seeking an Sr. Project Engineer to join their team. Our client is a leading manufacturer of paperboard and paper-based packaging, seeking a highly motivated Sr. Project Engineer for its Waco, TX facility.

    This role is responsible for leading and managing mechanical aspects of capital improvement projects supporting four paper machines, power and recovery, and the OCC plant. The Sr. Project Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze equipment specifications, design and oversee installations, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure projects align with GPI's business objectives. Up to 25% travel may be required.


    Responsibilities:

    • Design and direct the installation of mechanical products and plant systems.

    • Analyze product/equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine feasible designs within existing manufacturing capabilities.

    • Evaluate the feasibility of new equipment designs and facility modifications, considering cost, space, time, and other technical/economic factors.

    • Provide technical guidance on manufacturing/processing techniques, materials, and process limitations for long-range planning.

    • Direct and coordinate the construction of machine improvements and plant systems.

    • Evaluate engineering test results for potential applications.

    • Collaborate with maintenance to troubleshoot mechanical equipment problems.

    • Lead and guide work related to piping systems, structural steel, and civil design.

    • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.

    • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.

    • Specify system components and direct product modifications to ensure compliance with design specifications.

    • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes.

    • Investigate equipment failures to diagnose faulty operation and provide recommendations to the maintenance team.

    • Support mill and department goals related to safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

    • 5+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

    • Experience in the paper or packaging industry is a plus.

    • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and design.

    • Proficiency in CAD software.

    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Experience with piping systems, structural steel, and civil design.

    • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
