    Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled BHU Registered Nurse to join our team at the JSH Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position is integral to providing high-quality nursing care in accordance with our hospital's policies and procedures. As a BHU Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties that ensure the well-being and safety of our patients. Your role will include administering and recording medication, maintaining IV access, assessing and documenting IV sites, and responding promptly to changes in patient status. You will also be tasked with reporting and implementing changes in the patient's care plan, ensuring that each identified problem is addressed, and maintaining accurate records of medication administration and narcotic use. Your role extends to patient education, where you will report on the progress of the patient's response to the teaching plan and make necessary adjustments. It is crucial that you attend continuing education programs, maintain CPR certifications, and adhere to all required safety education programs. You will operate equipment safely, maintain a clean and organized work area, and demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions. Professionalism is key, and you will be expected to interact courteously with peers, maintain composure in stressful situations, and communicate effectively using the appropriate chain of command. Confidentiality, a neat appearance, a positive attitude, and support for the hospital's mission and policies are essential. You will be expected to complete work assignments on time, accept additional assignments readily, and maintain punctuality and regular attendance. This role requires a compassionate individual who can foster professional relationships and contribute positively to the hospital's customer service program.

    Required Skills

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Current licensed by the state of Kentucky or compact state
    • BLS Certification American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) required, must be current
    • CPI certification preferred
    • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures for medication administration
    • Understanding of commonly used medications, including actions, doses, and side effects
    • Proficiency in all methods of medication administration
    • Ability to maintain IV access and assess/document IV sites
    • Skill in documenting narcotic use according to hospital policy
    • Commitment to legal and ethical nursing practices
    • Willingness to attend continuing education and hospital-sponsored training programs
    • Maintenance of CPR certification
    • Knowledge of MRI patient care observation and management
    • Understanding of PCA pain management procedures
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Professional composure and confidence in stressful situations
    • Respect for patient confidentiality and hospital policies
    • Positive attitude and customer service orientation

    Required Experience

    • Experience in administering and recording medication in a hospital setting
    • Experience with IV access maintenance and documentation
    • Experience in patient education and implementation of care plans
    • Experience in working within the legal boundaries of nurse practice act
    • Experience in attending and applying knowledge from continuing education programs
    • Experience in maintaining CPR certification and attending safety education programs
    • Experience in operating medical equipment safely and maintaining department standards
