Job Summary: Senior Structural Design Engineer / Project Manager will hold a key leadership role within our team-oriented organization. This offering is a high visibility leadership position.
We are in search of a seasoned civil engineering professional complemented by a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license. The ideal candidate will have 10 to 15 years of extensive experience in structural or civil engineering with an understanding of structural modular construction precast designs. Qualified candidate should excel in providing design, construction, and have experience for water control infrastructure projects for various hydraulic structures including dams, levees, hydropower facilities, cofferdams, and conveyance systems such as tunnels, diversion structures, drop shafts, pump stations, pipelines, canals, fish-passages, and penstocks.
Expertise in modular hydropower projects employing precast design methods is highly desirable. Responsibilities:
Oversee the structural design process for a variety of water control projects including review of existing site conditions and access and ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.
Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction completion, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and efficiency.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including architects, civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and construction professionals to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
Conduct thorough structural analysis, including finite element analysis and computational modeling to evaluate the performance and behavior of complex structures under various loading conditions.
Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for submission to regulatory agencies and stakeholders working directly with the project engineer of record.
Review and approve design documentation prepared by junior engineers and drafters, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Participate in design review meetings, value engineering sessions, and constructability reviews to optimize design performance and mitigate risks.
Provide technical support during construction activities, addressing field challenges, conducting site inspections, and implementing design modifications, as necessary.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies, advancements, and best practices in structural engineering, and incorporate innovative solutions into project designs.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their professional development and knowledge enhancement within the structural engineering discipline.
Qualifications:
Bachelor or master’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred.
10 to 15 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a focus on water control infrastructure projects.
Previous precast work experience preferred, design and technical analysis of precast structures.
Extensive experience of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural design and construction (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE, FEMA, FERC, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer structural and regulatory compliance).
Software Proficiency with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, Onshape, Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or similar tools.
Experience with hydraulic modeling and analysis software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM) is preferred but not required.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
Demonstrated leadership abilities with a history of successfully managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative design solutions.
Willingness to travel (25%) and work in challenging outdoor environments as needed.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and is in the range of $160K to $185K.
