SUMMARY:
A team player within the HR Department who takes the lead in handling day to day human resources functions. Assists CHRO in developing, implementing, administering programs including performance development, benefits, and other employee engagement initiatives. Works with managers to address employee relations issues including terminations.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: Responds to inquiries from employees and managers regarding human resources policies, benefits, Paycom/HRIS, and other HR related programs. Refers complex and/or sensitive matters to the CHRO or the appropriate staff as needed.
- HR ADMINISTRATION: Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to employee changes, benefits, and leave programs, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition programs, and safety.
- HR POLICIES, PROCEDURES & COMPLIANCE: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and regulatory changes. Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies in human resources. Offers suggestions and assists with implementation of HR programs.
- EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Manages day to day employee benefits (health insurance, life insurance, workers compensation and disability) including enrollment, payroll deductions, claims, questions, COBRA coordination, open enrollment coordination and acts as the broker contact. Also responsible for administration of unemployment claims.
- EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT: Oversight of performance feedback including documentation and tracking of performance development plans.
- EMPLOYEE TERMINATION: Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Coordinates of the termination process by ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete, communicated to all appropriate departments, and removed from all data systems; completes all exit interviews.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Maintains organized network files and work area so that others may easily access essential information.
- Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary,
- Initiates, organizes, and attends meetings etc.
- Supports a welcoming and positive environment for employees.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of progressive human resources generalist experience.
- Very strong computer skills, including demonstrated competencies in Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience working with an HRIS (Paycom, ADP, or similar preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and be able to escalate matters as needed.
- Ability to work independently.
