    Staff Accountant - Santa Monica Family Office - Part Time - 30 Hours/week ROLE DESCRIPTION: As the Staff Accountant, you play a crucial role at the company. You will be responsible for performing financial and administrative duties to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial reporting. As a successful Staff Accountant, you will demonstrate a professional and friendly personality, with an uncompromising desire to deliver an exceptional customer experience to our internal and external customers (Corporate Team Members, 3rd Party Managers/Entities, etc.). Your main mission at the company is to be a trusted partner. Responsibilities: HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: Customer Service: • Demonstrates outstanding phone and email etiquette. • Takes initiative to coach and train the team on accounting procedures. • Provides guidance and support to the internal and external parties. • Embraces teamwork and collaboration on all levels. Accounting Operations: Corporate Accounting • Prepare monthly bank and investment account reconciliations. • Allocate credit card transactions and post in Yardi. • Maintain and update all A/P auto-payments. • Post recurring journal entries and provide GL support. • Responsible for A/P and A/R. • Maintain vendor files and ensure W-9 compliance. • Perform daily activities such as preparing checks, posting receipts, and preparing deposits. • Assists with partner distributions, capital calls, and reporting. • Responsible for property tax tracking and payments. • Perform other duties outside the scope of the job description and required by the CFO and Assistant Controller. Project Accounting • Process and post all incoming job cost-related invoices. • Post all approved contracts and change orders. • Review monthly construction pay applications along with supporting documents and process payments to general contractors. • Prepare and maintain construction loan draws while monitoring percentage completion, contingency, and retention. • Reconcile the job costs report to the CIP GL accounts. • Track preliminary notices and conditional waivers. • Ensure that contractor insurance is compliant with requirements and up to date. • Contract Administration. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent. • 4+ years of accounting experience - project construction accounting experience is a plus. • 2 years of public accounting experience preferred. • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. • Experience in Yardi Voyager preferred. • Ability to process complex tasks with minimal instructions. • Possesses excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, property employees, and the Executive team. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Able to adapt to changing priorities. • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently. • Possess integrity and professionalism. Compensation: $30 - $40 hourly
