WPS is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our growing company. A Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and is a key member of the finance team responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations. This role often involves collaborating with other departments and supporting management in financial decision-making.
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Month End Journal Entries
- Review monthly financial statements to identify variances and correct errors
- Manage open items reports for Accounts payable and receivable
- Fixed Asset reporting and monitoring, including improved process implementation
- Manage Customer Rebate accruals and payments
- Daily cash report/reconciliation preparation
- Sales and Use tax filing including process improvements
- 1099 Reporting – Prepare annual filing
- Company credit card – administration of users, expense review, reporting and recording into General Ledger
- Audit Support – prepare schedules for external audits and assist in resolution of audit findings and recommendations
- Assist in integration of accounting functions due to acquisitions
- Process Improvements – Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting, with an understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end).
- Will work in office Monday through Friday.
