    To be successful as a Mentor at our Day Program, you should be thorough, supportive, and caring with the ability to multi task. You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the position and have some understanding of intellectual developmental disabilities. Other key duties will include, organizing activities, community integration, building relationships, creating mentorship and vocational opportunities for the participants within the community.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Mentor, support, and train skill-appropriate participants to learn basic skills such as helping read, write, spell, identify state map, history, science projects, math, money management , speech and occasionally cooking classes according to the individual intellectual level.

    2. Transporting participants in company provided vehicles in the mornings for pick ups, mid day for community integration activities, and in the evenings for drop offs.

    3. Quickly problem solving active behaviors from individuals and making the best logical decision to deescalate the problem. Documenting the incident accurately and in a timely manner.

    4. Building personable relationships with participants to help motivate them in optimal health, personal goals, friendships and family.

    5. Ensuring participants are learning positive behaviors and providing support as needed.

    6. Completes transportation logs and daily reports related to assigned activities and functions on a daily accurately and in a timely manner. Incident reports and documentation reports completed as needed.

    7. Serve as a resource to participants towards their Individual Service Plan (ISP) progress in achieving pe

    8. Effectively build relationships and interact with the participants and encourage them to create relationships with other participants, and the community.

    9. Attends vocational and/or continued education workshops, training courses, and meetings on a monthly basis to improve knowledge and skills.

    Qualifications:

    Exceptional and effective communication, teaching, leadership and interpersonal skills

    Handling and problem solving emotionally charged/stressful situations.

    Actively participate in optimal health (stretching, walking, fun games ofnkick balk, baseball, basketball, soccer and more!)

    Familiar with community integration, work programs, volunteer opportunities and how to access community services.

    Must be decisive, patient, passionate, and enthusiastic with the ability to effectively lead a group of participants

    Education/Certifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.

    Valid driver license with cleaning driving record

    Must pass a drug test.

    Must pass Live Scan Fingerprint

    A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar role related to providing direct support services for day programs, vocational counseling, mentorship, or conflict
