Job description
Position: Staff Pharmacist
Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday & either 1/2 day on Friday or Full day every other Friday.
Store Hours: M-F 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM & Sa 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
On Call Hours: Opportunities may become available.
Role Purpose: As the Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) you will be responsible for managing the daily pharmacy functions with the assistance of the Pharmacy Manager. Maintaining compliance and training with our standard operating procedures, training technicians and assisting in dispensing and preparation of medications. You will also train for and actively lead the non-sterile compounding process and the Controlled Substance inventory and dispensing while maintaining appropriate pharmacy records. While the pharmacy hours are listed above, you will not be required to work all of the hours listed.
Sample of Responsibilities: You will be a driving force for the success of the pharmacy. In addition to having leadership, coaching skills, and workflow management, you should also be familiar with Sterile Compounding, Clinical Pharmacist activities, pharmacy compliance items, promoting health programs with patients, and counseling patients on healthy lifestyle, drug regimens, etc.. You may need to assist in the preparation of prescriptions which includes, non-sterile compounding, filling, and dispensing to patients.
Use of automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory management, patient records, and regulatory compliance. Preferred experience with clinical pharmacy, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, pharmacy compliance, controlled inventory, pharmacy technology such as EyeCons (med counting), and strip packaging such as RxSafe (technology experience is not required).
Proficiency working in PioneerRx software will be required after a training period. Ongoing training will be provided but a solid foundation of the functions performed within the system will be required with proficiency to train other expected in a timely manner after hire.
Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory compliance including: sterile compounding records, non-sterile compounding records, controlled substance inventory and dispensing, standard record keeping, and environmental monitoring logs, etc..
Maintain quality assurance standards within the pharmacy as it relates to the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions and patient care.
Maintain regulatory cleanliness compliance for all areas of the pharmacy.
Maintenance of inventory which includes inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness. May be required to complete periodic inventory as required for business purposes.
Per Old Town Internal Policies, completes a controlled substance inventory on a regularly scheduled basis. Must follow all Board of Pharmacy regulations when completing the controlled substance inventory.
Maintains professionalism in the workplace at all times towards patients and staff.
Complete all State and Federal regulatory trainings applicable to the proper operation of the Pharmacy.
Maintain compliance with all regulations and laws applicable to Pharmacy Operations at all times.
Maintain a Pharmacist License with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy in Good Standing/Unrestricted at all times. Additional State Licensing is preferred at the time of hire, applicant must be open to getting other state licenses. Minimum Requirements:
Registered Pharmacist (RPh)
Thorough knowledge of OTC and prescription medications
Pharmacist Experience
Immunization Experience/Certification
Preferred Experience:
Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD)
IV Level 1 Experience preferred
1 Year in a management/leadership role at a previous employer (pharmacy not required)
Experience with Pioneer Rx Software
Some Retail Pharmacy Experience
Licenses & Certifications:
State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist License in Good Standing/Unrestricted (required)
Must pass a criminal background check (No Felony Convictions or convictions involving Controlled Substances)
