    THE POSITION

    Our client is looking for passionate technologists, strong communicators, and individuals committed to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will confidently propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to learn from and educate others. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work in empowered, multidisciplinary teams, autonomously tackling complex challenges to provide the best experiences and products for a growing community of millions of players in the fast-paced and expanding sports betting environment.

    As a member of the Technology Transformation team, you will research and build proof of concepts using innovative technologies to create cutting-edge customer experiences and drive internal innovation. You'll think big, move fast, identify opportunities, and take quick action. Building solutions for scale and longevity will be crucial as the company continues to grow.

    You'll write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects, proficiently utilizing a broad range of data structures and algorithms. You'll participate in team design, scoping, and prioritization discussions, learn the business context and technologies behind your team's software, and work effectively with team members. Most importantly, you will be a passionate advocate for the customers.

    • Rapidly prototype, experiment, and demonstrate production-like capabilities.
    • Collaborate on project ideas and strategy with customers, stakeholders, and peers, balancing customer requirements with team needs, and strive to become a subject matter expert.
    • Seek incremental delivery, pivot when necessary, and help lead your team in code quality and roadmap ownership.
    • Drive engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality) and set standards.
    • Self-manage your craft, owning key initiatives, delegating to and empowering teammates, and partnering with your engineering manager to improve delivery.
    • Foster constructive dialogue, seek resolutions professionally, and stay updated with market standards and open-source frameworks.
    • Provide excellent customer support on an on-call rotation when required.
    • Maintain humility, pragmatism, self-management, and a thirst for knowledge, always challenging the norm.

    THE REQUIREMENTS

    What we're looking for in our next teammate:

    • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of relevant work experience.
    • High standard of technical judgment, innovation, and execution in solving open-ended problems with difficult prioritization.
    • Solid experience building and designing highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and always-available systems.
    • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
    • Expertise in at least one higher-level language (Python, JS, Java, .NET).
    • Full-stack experience in building and designing highly scalable systems in React, React Native, Native, and Node.JS backends.
    • Strong experience leading software engineering teams across Web, Mobile, and connected device spaces.
    • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
    • Proficient in delegating responsibilities, mentoring, and empowering team members.
    • Track record of owning technical delivery outcomes.
    • Passion for quality and best practices within an SDLC, with experience in unit testing and testing tools.
    • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive, with demonstrated abilities driving operational excellence and best practices.

    The applicable salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000, depending on factors such as experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This role may offer benefits including short-term or long-term incentive compensation, cash bonuses, and stock program participation.
