Job Description
The Staff Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for products in the Electronic Systems portfolio. Analyses are performed during all phases of the product development process to include; concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Staff Systems Engineer will provide guidance in the development and integration of new Electronic Systems and components functioning as a platform integration Subject Matter Expert in this area.
The successful candidate should have experience in the implementation, integration and qualification of emerging technologies. Experience of platform / vehicle integration of sensors, mission systems, helmet mounted, and cockpit display systems would be an advantage. A track record of working with Original Equipment Manufacturers, component vendors and new product technologies while integrating and testing them for a functional system design is required.
** Responsibilities and Tasks (listed in bullet format) in order of priority to be successful**
Lead technical side of customer interactions to understand the Voice of the Customer and help to shape product requirements
Lead system integration efforts including hands-on evaluation of prototype products on aircraft, maritime platforms, land vehicles and System Integration Labs
Support and execute user demonstration and working groups that result in optimization of the system design and to troubleshoot system issues. Engage with other engineering functions to determine approach to evaluate candidate designs and solutions
Capable of interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and perform firmware/software installation to integrate, demonstrate and test complex systems
Models Elbit America’s core values, providing mentorship and technical leadership to the Engineering team
Performs integration / demonstration planning and resource/asset allocation in coordination with Engineering Functional Leadership, Engineering Product Leads and Business Development personnel
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other ESL and Elbit America Divisions
Plan and support verification and validation activities for complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
Fully understands systems engineering process
Ensures lessons learned are identified and incorporated into the standards process.
Support proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating, and presentation activities
Review, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statements
Work with all Technical functions to develop and document product architectures that meet technical, cost and schedule goals
Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design.
Ability to effectively document and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentations.
Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards
Research, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule (can be activity lead or in supporting role)
Prepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, Elbit America management, or development team
Provide regular and clear communication to customers, Elbit affiliates, government officials, and other contractors as required
Work independently and with internal/external organizations
Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design processes and procedures
Fully understand internal systems engineering procedures, mentor entry level engineers

Qualifications
Education, Experience & License or Certification
Hold an accredited Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Electro-optical, Software or Systems Engineering, Applied Physics or other related engineering degrees
14+ years of systems engineering experience with BS or 12+ years with Master’s Degree
5+ years’ experience working with platform/vehicle/personnel mounted systems desired
Experience working with Helmet Mounted Display systems and electrical components desired
Skills and Abilities
Must be a highly effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
Must be highly self-motivated and able to work in both team and individual environments
