SALES CONSULTANT – BUILDING MATERIALS
OVERVIEW.
We are a growing company with locations in multiple states focused on providing building materials as well as product and design advice to meet clients commercial or residential needs.
We are seeking an experienced sales professional who is enthusiastic about helping customers receive the best possible product and service. To be successful you will bring a consultative selling approach while possessing the ability to create compelling sales presentations, engage decision makers and effectively negotiate acceptable terms.
The candidate must have experience selling products to builders and general contractors, as well as have a proven history building effective long-term relationships with strategic accounts or customers.
Knowledge or experience managing complex projects with a high amount of detail is preferred. Experience selling building materials to builders is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage and execute the direct sales of custom wood door, window and millwork products to builders, architects, designers, general contractors and/or homeowners in both residential and commercial environments. Many products are custom made by highly skilled artisans at our facility but can also include others sourced through vendors. This position will manage leads from customers contacting us to purchase our product but would also include mining for new accounts through outreach efforts, specifically focusing on builders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Win new customers through handling of leads, effective outreach and relationship building.
- Service, nurture and grow customers by building effective long-term relationships, implementing effective communication skills, and driving sales through consultative selling.
- Create and present compelling building material bids which strike an effective balance between consumer value and maximizing internal profit.
- Win deals, close sales, and support customers through the process.
- Manage complex projects ensuring stakeholders are kept up to date and have what they need.
- Provide feedback and submit reports on sales, marketplace activity and trends.
- Effectively work with cross-functional partners in production, logistics and design to solve problems, meet goals and exceed consumer expectations.
- Contribute to a positive team culture of support, professionalism and mutual respect which fuels a healthy, enjoyable, and effective working environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- This is not an entry level position. The person moving into this role should already have the fundamental skills required, and after a suitable amount of time to learn our business, they will be able to drive success.
- 5+ Years’ experience as a Sales Executive selling building material product required.
- 3-5+ Years’ experience calling on and servicing long term accounts or customers required.
- Experience collaborating with architects, designers and/or builders is required.
- Existing relationships with Builders, Contractors and/or Architects is a plus.
- Experience managing complex, multi-phase projects, both commercial and residential, with a high amount of detail involved is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree appreciated, but a combination of education with the right experience accepted.
- Proven history building long-term relationships with customers and/or accounts.
- Proven sales experience meeting or exceeding targets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast past environment, multi-task and maintain high personal standards.
- Extremely strong customer service orientation.
- Initiative-taker with proven skills in negotiating and driving for results in a complex environment.
- Must demonstrate an energetic, positive, and helpful demeanor.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Custom wood products, manufacturing, architectural millwork, construction, or design experience a plus
- Fundamental understanding of sales related financial metrics.
- Relationship management and communication skills.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to close a deal.
- Familiarity with blueprints, architectural drawings and/or design is a plus.
- Familiarity with manufactured wood product sales a plus.
- Experience using a CRM such as Salesforce or NetSuite is a plus.
- Customer service ability and experience.
- Openness to change, leaning into innovative ideas with a positive mindset of creating the future.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
LOCATION
The greater Atlanta GA, area. Some travel required (25% to 40% of the time.)
COMPENSATION
$100k+ on-target earnings. Salary plus commission. Salary & compensation will adjust based on experience. There is no cap on commission, and there is solid earning potential in this role with a growing company.
