    Job Title: Statistician (NWS 00720)

    THIS POSITION IS SHORT TERM, MAX 1000 HOURS IN A CALENDAR YEAR

    North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Available employment opportunities may range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions.

    Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

    Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

    The Global Security Directorate has an opening for a Statistician within the Biological and Science Program, within Z Program. The successful candidate will provide independent statistical analysis to support Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) environmental sampling plans for various sponsor agencies related to consequence management. The position requires some travel to key facilities of interest as well as participation in multi-agency table -top exercises. The position also requires training/mentoring of more junior individuals to develop this expertise at LLNL in support of future programs.

    This position may require the employee to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and/or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

    _Essential Duties
    _
    - Participate in facility tours with IH support to optimize sampling plans for CBR incident response.
    -Conduct complex environmental assessments for key facilities to identify potential predesignated locations for sampling and analysis for “rule in, rule out” remediation purposed.
    -Perform statistical analysis to optimize clearance sampling for key facilities.
    -Provide written input to unclassified and classified reports.
    -Provide PowerPoint slides for TTX events and participate as needed.
    -Perform other duties as assigned.

    _Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    _
    -Master's degree in statistics or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    -Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the restoration process with an emphasis on Combined Judgmental Random (CJR) sampling and the ability to interpret and apply such knowledge to the development of facility specific sampling plans.
    -Significant background and experience in the regulatory interpretation of environmental sample analysis for soil, water and air monitoring.
    -Significant experience conducting simple to complex statistical analyses.
    -Significant experience analyzing, interpreting, and assessing clearance guidelines with complex environmental guidance and recommending and implementing solutions.
    -Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively present, explain and communicate complex technical information to all levels of personnel and management.
    -Advanced analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to evaluate, interpret, negotiate, recommend and implement actions/solutions for complex problems.
    -Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with a broad cross-section of people including effective interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact, discretion, and mature judgment.

    _Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    _
    -Experience with interagency data management sampling plans (e.g. Broom, Scribe).
    -Advanced knowledge in interagency clearance guidelines (EPA, CDC) and DOE Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM).

    Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level) All L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
