    THE Orthopedic Surgery Center is a brand new, state-of-the-art surgery center in Westminster, CO. It is a 4 OR, 2 procedure room facility that focuses on Orthopedic procedures. Open Monday – Friday with no call.     JOB SUMMARY

    The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing all items pertinent to the operations of the center.

    **Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities : **Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

    1. Coordinates and implements AMI standards and any other resources (IFU’s, SDS’s, policies) for the sterilization of instruments and supplies.
    2. Can explain and give rationale for current practices.
    3. Can work independently and uses time wisely. Speaks up to address practice issues.
    4. Demonstrates good body mechanics.
    5. Coordinates the availability of appropriate instruments/supplies for cases as needed.
    6. Assures the adequate functioning and cleaning of all autoclaves and other sterilization/cleaning equipment.
    7. Maintains adequate supplies without waste that are needed for sterilization process.
    8. Maintains complete and accurate documentation.
    9. Facilitates turnover times to promote operating room efficiency.
    10. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
    11. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
    12. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines, and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
    13. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team.
    14. Assists with stocking and inventory tracking.
    15. Attends in-service training, required education, conferences, and meetings to learn new skills as required.
    16. Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
    17. Maintains designated certifications such as BLS and any position-specific certifications.
    18. Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
    19. Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
    20. Whatever it takes to help the team deliver world class patient care.

    $19.50-$27.50 / hour

    Required Skills

    Education and/or Experience:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Completion of a Sterile Process Certification Program is preferred
    • One to two years experience as an Instrument Technician in multiple specialties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • BLS certification required.
