Sterile Processing Technician Mid/2nd Shift
Position Overview
Responsible for the daily cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments for use in the operating room.
Essential Job Functions:
Decontaminates surgical items, assembles, sterilizes and distributes items as needed.
Ensures efficient operation of sterile processing and assures sterility of instruments and supplies.
Responsible for identifying and repairing broken instruments and equipment.
Develops and maintains sterilization logs.
Performs daily and as needed all biological and chemical tests for sterilization equipment.
Provides clean and sterile med/surg supplies and equipment to surgery suites and other patient care areas.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Required
2 years of related experience
Broad knowledge of OR procedures and comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
Broad knowledge of all decontamination equipment and sterilization procedures.
Sterile Processing certification or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements:
The sterile processing technician must be able to engage in physical activities on a daily basis.
Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest x-ray annually (test will be provided at no cost to the Employee)
Able to maintain extensive standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and twisting.
Able to lift a minimum of 20# of surgical supplies and equipment.
Hepatitis immunization (provided at no cost to the employee). Or documented refusal to be vaccinated.
