Job Description:
D1 Lakewood Ranch is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic interns for our 14-week Strength and Conditioning Practicum Course. This internship is designed to provide aspiring strength and conditioning coaches with hands-on experience and practical skills necessary for a successful career in the private fitness sector. Interns will work with athletes and adult members of various demographics, gaining exposure to exercise physiology, program design, injury prevention, communication techniques, and sports psychology.
Responsibilities:
Assist in writing and implementing training programs for individual athletes and groups.
Conduct mock assessments and provide recommendations for athlete performance improvement.
Attend lectures, workshops, and meetings throughout the semester.
Learn and apply proper lifting techniques, safety protocols, and injury prevention strategies.
Engage in daily facility operations, including equipment maintenance, cleaning, and enforcing rules and regulations.
Participate in planning and executing special events and projects.
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and team coaches.
Assist in business and front desk operations as needed.
Maintain accurate records of training sessions and athlete progress.
Requirements:
Passion for strength and conditioning and a desire to work with both athletes and adults.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a plus.
Ability to commit 25-40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
Basic knowledge of exercise physiology and strength training principles.
Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced coaches and supervisors.
Current CPR/AED certification is preferred.
