Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) is looking to hire a Structural Engineer to join our Technical Assurance Group (TAG) in the Overland, MO area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing quality control and expertise in structural design, analysis, and construction coordination. You will collaborate with architects, designers, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated structural solutions for our projects. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects, meeting time, cost, and quality objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with architects, designers, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated structural design solutions.
- Lead the structural design process from concept development to detailed design, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Conduct structural analysis and calculations using advanced software tools, considering factors such as loads, material properties, and dynamic behavior.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and drafters in the preparation of drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and contribute to the resolution of technical issues.
- Coordinate with contractors and construction teams during the construction phase to address structural challenges and ensure compliance with design intent.
- Conduct structural inspections and assessments of existing buildings and structures, identifying deficiencies and recommending remedial measures.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the structural engineering team.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in structural engineering and incorporate them into design processes where applicable.
- Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, providing timely updates on design progress and addressing concerns or queries.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field. A master's degree would be advantageous.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility for licensure.
- 8-12 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on collaborative design projects. Previous experience working in an architectural/engineering firm is preferred.
- Proficiency in using structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative structural solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project deadlines.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
