We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to coordinate and lead the activities of the Structural Department, reporting directly to the Board. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage structural design for industrial, commercial, municipal, and waterfront facilities, including retaining walls, concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures
- Lead structural analysis, assessment, design, investigation, and repair solutions
- Perform finite element analysis, seismic and hurricane zone analysis, and design pre-engineered building foundations
- Coordinate and work closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to develop cost-effective, high-quality solutions
- Manage the structural department, including project budgeting, planning, and involving staff in projects
- Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on project planning and design
- Ensure compliance with current building codes and regulations (ICC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.)
- Visit construction sites to assess existing conditions and challenges during construction
- Provide design documentation, project specifications, and construction drawings
- Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client meetings
What We Are Looking For:
- Professional (ABET Accredited) Degree in Structural Engineering
- PE License (or ability to quickly obtain licensure in SC)
- Minimum of 10 years of structural design experience in a variety of building materials: steel, concrete, masonry, precast concrete, and cold-formed steel framing
- Experience with industrial, distribution, logistics, and renovation projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office Suite, RAM Structural Systems, and ENERCALC
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Experience with budget planning, directing staff, and mentoring junior engineers
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of leading projects from design through construction
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to engage in business development and marketing efforts
