Structural Engineering Internship Opportunity - Summer 2025
Job Description
As a Structural Engineering Intern at KPFF, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience in various phases of the design and construction process. This internship provides valuable structural analysis, modeling, and design exposure while allowing you to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance project efficiency and integrity.
Throughout the internship, you will:
Qualifications
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
Completion of at least 90 credits, including two or more design courses (e.g., structural analysis, mechanics of materials, concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by the start of the internship.
Basic knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals (e.g., free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams).
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong technical and organizational abilities, with an ability to work collaboratively.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Interns primarily work in a standard office setting with occasional travel to project sites.
Field visits may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
Must comply with all safety requirements in the office and on job sites.
Internship Duration
The internship typically runs during the summer from May/June to August/September, with full-time hours.
Exact start and end dates may vary depending on the student’s availability.
