    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues
    • Reviews, interpret and work with various fiber cut sheets, drawings, blueprints and testing documents
    • Termination of Uni-cam connectors and other mechanical fiber connectors
    • Makes fusion splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
    • Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier, Power Meter and Fiber Scope
    • Splicing Technician should be able to prep fiber optic cables into new enclosures, splice trays and fusion splice optic fiber cable ranging from single fiber to large count cables including performing mid entries, or ring cut when needed
    • Accurately test fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification
    • Installation of pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
    • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures
    • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues
    • Accurately test copper cables to required certification
    • Physically install Cat3, Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6 Structured Cable Distribution Systems
    • Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors
    • Test, diagnose and correct copper problems
    • Maintain and reference industry standards including ANSI,EIA/TIA and local and Low Voltage Code and standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Possess a high level of independent judgment within established procedures
    • 3 years of directly related experience
    • Certified as a BICSI Technician or similar certification preferred but not required
    • Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
    • Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
    • Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
    • Ability to work respectively with others and work independently
    • Ability to climb and work at elevations from (ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
    • Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)

    Ability to drive to office and jobsites, also have a valid driver's license
