    Duration: 6 –12-month contract with reevaluation and possibility for extension

    Absolute Staffing is seeking to contract hire Student Assistants to work with our client and join our dynamic team.

    Position Summary

    Student Assistants provide one-on-one support to students in public schools. This non-instructional role focuses on ensuring the assigned student remains engaged, safe, and supported throughout the school day. No teaching or tutoring is required—just a commitment to making a positive impact in a student’s daily routine.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    • Provide one-on-one support to an assigned student throughout the school day (6-7 hours).
    • Assist the student in transitioning between classes, lunch, and other activities.
    • Offer supervision to ensure the student stays on task and follows school expectations.
    • Support non-instructional needs as directed by teachers or school staff.
    • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a supportive presence at all times.

    Adhere to all school policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework preferred).
    • Preferred Experience: Experience working with children or in a school setting is a plus but not required.
    • Skills: Patience, dependability, and strong communication skills.

    Other Requirements: Ability to pass a background check, finger printing, etc.

    Working Hours

    • This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime if applicable; however, a need for overtime is not expected for this assignment.
    • Monday-Friday, following the facility’s school calendar.
    • $19 – $21/hr
    • Non-exempt; OT Eligible, but no anticipated need
    • Bi-weekly Pay Cycle
    • Direct Deposit

     

    Health Insurance (Full-time only)

    • Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • Employer covers 70% of employee-only premium; employee covers 30% (deducted from payroll)
    • Employees may elect dependent coverage (100% employee-paid)
    • Coverage begins the first day of the month following date of employment or eligibility
