Ideal candidates:
Are an Accounting major and interested in learning more about accounting and taxes
Are organized, dependable, self-motivated, curious to learn, and observant
Demonstrate strong communication skills and comfort communicating with our team and with clients
Work well independently and as a team player demonstrating a positive attitude
Thrive in fast-paced work environment with a high attention to detail while completing tasks
Have strong computer skills (Microsoft products)
Can work at least 25 hours per week, including weekends, from January through April in our Westerville office
Interns receive a competitive hourly rate and can earn an end-of-season bonus with strong performance. First year interns will start at $20.00/hour. We are hiring multiple interns.
Position Responsibilities Interns will perform a variety of responsibilities depending on their coursework, skills, interests and performance.
Tax Coordinator:
This team is responsible for the beginning of the tax process and will organize documents, set up projects, communicate with clients regarding missing documents
This role requires attention to detail and urgency to accurately and efficiently advance work to the tax preparation phase
Workload is heavier throughout March as clients are submitting their tax documentation and tapers off as we approach the April 15th deadline
Tax Preparation:
This team is responsible for keying all tax documents as part of the preparation of individual tax returns; in January, interns support the preparation of 1099s for our business clients
This role requires attention to detail in ensuring the information is accurately entered into the required tax software, communication with the tax professional signing the tax return, and the ability to understand how all the information comes together applying your technical skills to actual situations
Workload is heavier throughout mid-March and through the April 15th deadline
Assembly:
This team assembles completed individual and business tax returns for clients to pick up or digital/electronic delivery; key responsibilities include:
Final printing tax returns which includes checking for errors or incomplete steps
Assembling paper tax returns and ensuring completeness of all forms and required information for the tax return and for the client to mail in necessary documents and payments
Assemble electronic returns
This role requires a strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and comfort resolving any open issues
Workload gets progressively heavier as we approach the April 15th deadline
